The Advantages of Our DATABASE PAGES

    remote
    remotes

For openers, our Database Pages contain accurate information about common defects found in VCRs today. These tips are not made up, unlike some of those our competitors are selling. The information is up-to-date. Also we don't clutter up the Database Pages with defects that can happen to any VCR. Things like dirty heads or foreign objects caught inside will never be listed. They are just not model number specific case history problems. We have a seperate place in the Knowledgebase for them. You will find more model numbers listed than anywhere else. And last but not least, it's FREE.

With over 5.000 different VCR model numbers in use today, there is no way any book can cover them individually. That is the beauty of this website, because it's the only resource that can do just that. The Database Pages can deliver accurate repair data for one model number without confusing you with information about all the others. For example, a VCR that eats tapes might be a bad reel belt on an RCA VLT395, but on an Emerson VCR-4250 it's most likely to be a stuck idler. For any given symptom, there are several possibilities for just one VCR, not to mention thousands of others.

The advantages of our Database Pages are astounding. By simply clicking on a make and model, it brings up:

    • Repair tips for common problems on that specific model number.
    • Procedures for removing cassettes that will not eject, including step by step instructions for each model on extracting uncooperative cassettes.
    • Preventive Maintenance Alerts- are posted for VCRs famous for certain major breakdowns that can be prevented with simple procedures now.
    • Difficulty rating - each repair is rated on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most difficult. This will help beginners determine if they want to tackle a certain repair.
    • Top and bottom views of the VCR's mechanical deck.
    • Basic information for most VCR model numbers:
      • what type of mechanical deck it uses.
      • any known difficulties in removing top or bottom covers.
      • what kind of mode switch it has and where it's located (common failure item).
      • how the cassette carriage is powered (aids in removing stuck cassettes).
      • information on any precautions that may be necessary for the tape end sensors when the top cover is off.
      • any parts or service information we may have available for that model number.

The information is laid out to take you to the problem fast without wasting your valuable time sifting through reams of text that take you no where. For example, some of the tips in the Database Pages took a pro days to track down for just one tip. You can now solve that same problem instantly. But thats not all. In addition to the Database Pages, we offer alternatives if your problem is not listed there. There are sections for the Top 15 Common Problems of the 80's and Top 10 Common Problems of the 90's. Also there are other pages in the Knowledgebase on various troubleshooting topics.
